The Jericho Sanction ReviewThe Jericho Sanction is the second novel written by North and Musser. It follows the New York Times' Bestseller Mission Compromised as the second book in a three-book series. (If you haven't read Mission Compromised yet, it is now out in paperback.) In The Jericho Sanction, North continues the action-packed story of Peter Newman, a Marine lieutenant colonel whose covert operation against terrorists and Saddam Hussein was betrayed by United Nations' and U.S. government bureaucrats.
Newman and his wife Rachel go into hiding following an assassination attempt orchestrated by a renegade UN Deputy Secretary General with KGB ties. Although, he has been framed as an international terrorist, Newman is called out of hiding to help the US military find three soviet-era nuclear weapons that may have fallen into the hands of Saddam Hussein.
When his wife is kidnapped in Israel, along with an Israeli woman, Newman teams up with the Israeli military to find them and the nuclear weapons. The events that follow bring the middle-east to the brink of nuclear war, as Israel considers a proactive nuclear strike as its necessary action of defense.
Like Mission Compromised, this book is a gripping story of international intrigue, conflict, violence, betrayal and faith. It is an entertaining and intelligently written page-turner that the reader is sure to appreciate.
As President Reagan's coordinator of US counter-terrorism efforts in the mid-1980's, North was involved in highly-classified covert operations, including the 1985 interception of the Achille Laura cruise ship hijackers and the bombing of Libyan terrorists' bases.
As this novel was going through the finishing touches prior to publication, North was embedded with US Marines as they stormed Baghdad as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He uses his first-hand knowledge of the region, the governments, conflicts, and of US military operations to write a realistic story about the war on terrorism. This novel reveals the murderous hatred of terrorists and the faithful courage of the soldiers who oppose them.
North said in an interview about the book that he spent significant time with the Israeli military in order to write accurately about it. He also says that all of the descriptions of the equipment and weaponry in The Jericho Sanction (and there are several high-tech gadgets used in it) are all "dead-on accurate."
The action in this book is fast-paced and moves from scene to scene before you can blink your eyes. It lacks in-depth character development, as the characters play their roles too neatly--exactly the way you would imagine without any surprises. Even so, by reading this book, you become familiar with the caliber and commitment of those men and women of the Israeli, British, and US militaries who are unselfishly risking their lives to prevent more atrocities like the September 11th attack.
The book ends with one of the three nuclear weapons missing, and the weapon may eventually find its way to the United States. North offers a glimpse of the third and final book of the trilogy. He says that the upcoming book will be about the US capabilities to deal with the nuclear threat from terrorists and from countries like Iran that may already posses nuclear weapons. The Jericho Sanction OverviewWhen his cover is blown and his wife is kidnapped in Jerusalem, Lt Col Peter Newman realises he may have to pay a catastrophic price for his participation in a secret government mission to uncover Iraqi nuclear weapons. Newman has always been willing to put his life on the line for his country. As concern that Iraq may already possess nuclear weapons grows, he once again puts America first and agrees to undertake a clandestine mission to uncover the weapons. But when his cover is blown and his wife is kidnapped in Jerusalem, Newman discovers that his courage has put more than just his own life at risk. Matters become even more complicated when Israel discovers that Iraq has nukes, and plans a pre–emptive strike on Baghdad with Jericho missiles – an event that could have unprecedented consequences. Newman is the only man who knows all of the pieces to the puzzle, and the only one experienced and brave enough to prevent full–scale nuclear war. But as time ticks away, will he be able to both save his wife and prevent Armageddon, or will he have to make a terrible choice?

Hand of Hope The Story Behind The Picture ReviewThis is my first review ever but was compeled to comment on this one. I'm a big fan of true life stories. Fiction just bores me. (love Erin Brockovich, hate Harry Potter).I saw this picture several years ago and heard bits and pieces of the story behind it but I didn't understand it, until it was all layed out before me at once. Wow! This book was an easy read and hard to put down. This is a modern day "Daniel in the lions den" story. God bless you Michael for taking a stand. The world needs to see what is hidden from them everyday.Hand of Hope The Story Behind The Picture OverviewPhotojournalist Michael Clancy captured the picture of a lifetime when Samuel reached from his mother's womb and squeezed the finger of his surgeon during fetal surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. The picture became embroiled in controversy when Dr. Joseph Bruner told Tennessean Newspaper reporter Bill Snyder, "Depending on your political point of view this is either Samuel Armas reaching out of the uterus and touching the finger of a fellow human, or it's me pulling his hand out of the uterus ... which is what I did." This book tells what really happened during Samuel's surgery and the extent the doctor and medical center would go to cover up the fact that Samuel simply came out from under the anesthesia too soon.

Pastor's Handbook ReviewThe last time I read a rewritten classic, I was sorely disappointed. Happily, this was not the case as I read John Bisago's Pastor's Handbook.
I also found myself surprised at the style of the book - I expected to see sample worship service, sample prayers, sample sermon outlines. I found these - but I found so much more. The book is laid out as a series of devotionals - each about 2-1/2 pages in length. Each "devotional" is rooted in scripture, but it is also practical.
Beginning with a series of short devotionals (i.e. essays) on the nature and the origin of the church, the book moves on to more practical matters. The section headings provide a survey of the topics covered:
Part 1: The Church
Part 2: The Pastor as God's Man
Part 3: The Pastor as Spiritual Leader
Part 4: The Pastor as Organizational Leader
Part 5: The Pastor as Preacher
Part 6: Worship Services
Part 7: Programs and Ministries
Part 8: The Church Staff
Part 9: The Church Finances
Part 10: Facilities and Operations
Part 11: Other Important Matters
Part 12: Issues/Taking a Position
A closer look at the table of contents will provide a more detailed look at the subjects covered.
Though the author is now a retired pastor, he does not speak for the graying church. He recognizes the need for the church to be more than it was it was - it will reach out to speak to people from various cultures and different generations.
Though I come from the Wesleyan Church, I found John Bisago's book interesting, helpful and encouraging. Pastors and leaders from across the ecclesiastical spectrum would be assisted in reaching their world for Christ as they take the time to study the 400 pages of the Pastor's Handbook.
I was glad to have the opportunity to read this book

The 19th Element: A James Becker Nuclear Thriller ReviewAl Qaeda plans to attack Minnesota's Prairie River Nuclear Power Plant to remind everyone they are still very active and to get back in the international headlines. They have recruited some homegrown anarchists to add to their terrorist forces, one of which is a Three Mile Island survivor with a huge grudge against the power plant, and two more with questionable education and background.
James "Beck" Becker is a former elite U.S. government intelligence operative who has retired to his childhood hometown of Red Wing, Minnesota just a few miles from the Prairie River Nuclear Power Plant. After a university professor's body is found along the shore of the Mississippi River, clearly murdered, "Beck" gets in on the investigation and all his instincts tell him, this dead body is just the start of something much bigger. He is very concerned when he learns the professor's assistant is missing along with what could be a very dangerous piece of lab equipment. Later clues like a missing fertilizer truck and an international phone call only confirm to "Beck" that terrorists are involved and that something major is going to happen, but he can't convince any government officials that a huge threat exists. So with the help of his American Indian friend "Bull", he tries to foil the plan on his own.
I LOVE IT!!!!!
I am so glad John Betcher sent me the extraordinary thriller. It is scary good!! I say this because this fiction could easily become reality. This could definitely be a "ripped from the headlines" story. When I think of terrorist targets in the United States, I think of major cities, Washington D.C., New York, maybe Los Angeles, but this story takes place in my "backyard", the Upper Midwest. Also we know from history there are terrorists and their supporters here in the states, and this story brings them out front and center. Yes, this story is fiction but it has all the details that make you realize this could really happen. While this book entertains it also raises the readers awareness that there are people that want to hurt Americans.
I had the pleasure of reading, reviewing and interviewing the author after her sent me his first book, The Missing Element, and while I truly loved that book, I enjoyed this book even more. This book is now tied with Harlan Coben's CAUGHT as the best book I have read this year. If you like a riveting, page turner this is definitely a book that should be in you hot little hands today. Don't wait, click the link and order this book today! You will not be able to put it down until you finish the last page and you will be thinking about the reality of it for a long time after you put this book on your keeper shelf.Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the author.. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR, Part 255 : "Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising."The 19th Element: A James Becker Nuclear Thriller OverviewGOLD MEDALIST 2011 READERS FAVORITE BOOK AWARDS.Al Qaeda plans to attack Minnesota's Prairie River Nuclear Power Plant as a means to return the down-trodden terrorist organization to international prominence. In addition to their own devoted forces, the terrorists enlist some homegrown anarchists, and a Three Mile Island survivor with a pathological vendetta against the nuclear establishment, to assist in the assault.James "Beck" Becker is a former elite U.S. government intelligence operative who has retired to his childhood hometown of Red Wing, Minnesota -- just six miles down the Mississippi from the Prairie River nuclear facility.Possessing wisdom born of experience, Beck suspects the terrorists' intentions as soon as the body of a university professor turns up on the Mississippi shore -- the clear victim of foul play.He recognizes connections between seemingly unrelated incidents -- the murdered agronomy professor, a missing lab assistant, an international cell call, a stolen fertilizer truck, an explosion in the street in front of City Hall -- but can't piece it together in enough detail to convince government authorities that a larger threat exists.Only his American Indian friend, "Bull," will help Beck defuse the threat. So it's Beck and Bull versus international terror.May the better men win.___________"Betcher writes with intelligence and humor. The 19th Element is an intriguing blend of Robert Parker wit and Vince Flynn action. A fun, exciting read for anyone who enjoys a well-written thriller." Found: A Memoir ReviewIn language stunning in its ability to describe a person, scene, and emotion in few words, Jennifer Lauck takes us into her world. The world of a baby wrested from its mother at birth, a child whose adoptive parents both die before she is ten years old, and a journalist, mother, and author who is forced to deal with feelings she doesn't understand until she comes to terms with her own adoption. This is more than just Jennifer's story. It is a story for anyone who has ever felt unloved or out of place in this world and has looked inside themselves for healing.
Jennifer is a master storyteller. I applaud her courage in sharing her mythic and spiritual journey to reunite with the Mother she never met but always knew at some deeper sensory level.Found: A Memoir Overview

The Great Eclipse: A Dream Design Bankrupted by Marketing and Mismanagement and Saved by a Sensible Business Strategy ReviewThe author obviously had great access to all of the people involved in this endeavor of trying to bring the "ground breaking everyday" attitude of the technology industries to the art of aircraft design and manufacture. As you read of the internal and industry wide conflicts Vern Raburn aand his team encountered, you can almost see the conflict of buggy whip manufacturers had 100 years before with the advent of the automobile. Maxwell then goes on in detail to show why a good, or even a great idea is not enough to ensure ultimate success. A great read. The Great Eclipse: A Dream Design Bankrupted by Marketing and Mismanagement and Saved by a Sensible Business Strategy Overview"The wonder isn't that the airplane took so long to get built but that it got built at all." Robert GoyerEditor-in-Chief, Flying MagazineVern Raburn - high tech entrepreneur - was a man with a dream and strong opinions. The dream: build a low cost, high speed twin-engine jet aircraft; tocompletely change personal air travel and Eclipse the competition. Thestrong opinions: when comparing the standards of thinking in aviation tothose of Silicon Valley, Raburn said of aviation, "People think we can't doit because they can't. It's the 'if it doesn't exist, it can't exist' theorem." He said of Silicon Valley, "If it doesn't exist, it's a market opportunity."Eclipse Aviation, Raburn's start-up company, created the airplane, won theprestigious Collier Trophy and went bankrupt. Then, against all odds, it wassaved. "The Great Eclipse" tells the story of how crippling culture clashes, supply chain sloppiness, mega-marketing and major mismanagementmade the dream a nightmare.Maxwell takes us on a fascinating journey as Raburn's Eclipse powersthrough the easy money time of the internet bubble, tumbles on technologyand crashes in the global economic crisis. Then, the assets of the companywere plucked from the bankruptcy court and a new Eclipse company took flight, managed with a sensible financial and business strategy. Dennis Maxwell has been writing about technology for over 30 years, at General Electric, SRI International, for a number of Silicon Valley high technology films and forEclipse Aviation. His words have appeared in disparate places, from The American Cinematographer to Congressional testimony. The Eden Prescription: The war on cancer is not what you think... Reviewas a journalist, I get sent a lot of books, I am lucky to always have 3-4 new books lying around so I tend to read a bit of this one here and a bit of that one there. As soon as I turned the first page of Ethan Ever's 'The Eden Prescription' I was completely hooked. It's very rare to be drawn into a book from the very first page. I finished this detailed novel in a few short days, I literally read it morning noon and night. It is quite simply one of the best books I have read in a very long time.
The Eden Prescription is a Thriller that is based on Fiction but, as you get drawn into the story, you realise it could very well be extremely truthful. For those that are in the know, when it comes to Pharmaceutical companies, they are truly ruling the world with how medicine gets done and how cancer gets treated. People think there are no cures for cancers, but many say that there are, the mainstream media just do not say there is......
This book is about what would happen 'if' someone had found a cure for any type of Cancer. The story line has two central characters, Annika and Dr Lindell. Dr Lindell is an absolute genius of a Scientist who is developing a super computer that can tell what ingredients are needed to cure each cancer a person has. His assistant Annika is helping him with his discoveries and both carry them out in secret, giving patients who are being treated for cancer with a mix of a pharmaceutical companies drug which is being tested before approval before the FDA. Unbeknown to the patients and the drug company, they are giving the patients a cocktail of natural ingredients which is having incredible results. The Cancers are shrinking and disappearing before their very eyes. The patients who do not have the natural mix, are not doing so well and are tending to pass away.
Both Annika and Dr Lindell know they are onto a groundbreaking discovery that can change the course of the worlds health and future.
The problem is, the powers at be, do not want this discovery getting out so the games begin where almost cancer free patients end up being killed in mysterious circumstances and Annika and Dr Lindell begin to get followed wherever they go. Other people involved begin to get killed and no one knows who is in charge.
The book takes you around the world, from Bermuda, to London, to Amsterdam, to Switzerland, to Paris, to America, and Indonesia in a whirlwind adventure. You get to understand how much money is involved with developing new drugs and just what lengths these companies will go to to protect their own interests.
There is mystery, action, murder, conspiracy, and on the edge of your seat suspense each and every page. Exceptionally easy to read and follow, you however, begin to not know who are the bad guys as there are several groups trying to get at Dr Lindell and his assistant Annika. This is what makes the book fantastic because there is nothing worse than a story that doesn't surprise you!
What is also fantastic about this book is at the end, there is a chapter on all the tests that are going on to prove that things like Vitamin D, Vitamin C, Pomegranete and other natural ingredients do have an incredible effect on cancers. These are referenced for the reader to go and check out. There is also a book list that Ethan read to help him research for his book.
Quite simply this book is a must read, and a must recommend to everyone you know! I don't think there would be anyone who wouldn't enjoy it like I did (ok maybe the people who make Pharmaceutical drugs wouldn't really like it!) and once its over, you will be disappointed that it's finished.
Although, I have it on good authority there are plans for other books as this will become a series!!!!
The book would also make an incredible movie, think James Bond, Mission Impossible style except with a much better storyline and message.
