320 Down ReviewStrong well developed characters with whom you can sympathize with. Very human and flawed. Have to love the characters! Detailed and well thought out plot followed through to a suspenseful ending! Several typos throughout the book, but were easy to ignore do to excellent storytelling! Very enjoyable! Thank you!320 Down OverviewFormer FBI investigator, Dawn McCafferty arrives after a Californian Credit Union discovers 320 million dollars missing. Still haunted from killing a man in the line of duty Dawn left the FBI and her failing relationship to investigate fraud for the NCUA, never wanting to take another life. What she assumes will be another tedious case until the profile suggests the theft is personal and orchestrated by someone with a grudge. Where everyone else focuses on the missing money, she sees revenge. Tom Williams is trying to escape his past, already on the outs with the credit union from past allegations; he is biding time at a dead-end job waiting for his life to start over. On paper he doesn't seem like a man who needs to steal, yet Dawn becomes certain of his guilt. As their Cat & Mouse game begins all the dirty little secrets hiding behind the calm facade begin to escape. Tom Williams doesn't act like any suspect she's ever encountered and she finds herself intrigued. The government's mounting pressure to avoid paying the loss brings the investigation and their lives to a dangerous crossroad showing the risks people will take to find what is lost and prove everything is not as it appears.

Forever and Beyond: A Novel Review"Forever and Beyond" this first novel penned by author Dianne Elliot, was for me a true delight to read from the beginning to the last page. The characters were all so very real, with my favorite being the self-assured, lady of means, Katie O'Malley. Even though her life takes many twists and turns, she faces each of these changes and challenges with bravery and compassion. This finely mixed mystery within the heart of a romance story is a perfect blend for this altruistic, enjoyable read. I found it to be touching and beautiful. A must read for anyone who loves a happy ending.Forever and Beyond: A Novel OverviewKatie O'Malley is a free-spirited, artsy, red-haired beauty who is about to graduate from Columbia University. But when her parents, John and Mary O'Malley, die in a tragic plane crash, Katie's life becomes very complicated. First, she learns the plane crash was no accident; her uncle paid someone to tamper with the fuel gauge. And, she certainly didn't expect to lose her heart to the handsome young priest, Andrew Jackson, who comforted her during her time of loss and grief. Nor did she expect to have her feelings returned by the good father. A file in her father's desk reveals the biggest surprise of all. It's a surprise that rocks Katie's world and takes her far from the bright lights of New York City to an unknown future on The Outer Banks of North Carolina. As she searches for answers, Katie wonders if her father's hidden past will be the key to the future she has always longed for.Other uncertainties plague Katie's future. Will Father Andrew Jackson leave the life of a priest and follow his heart back to her? Or will Katie find a new love in the sleepy little village of Buxton, North Carolina?

Secret Society: A Novel ReviewI did not like this book at all and it isn't because I don't have an open mind. I totally agree with the other reviewer, I did not bond with the characters at all. I need some kind of a connection and it just was not there. I got sick of all the designer name dropping and not to mention the very predictable ending that left me feeling cheated. I'm just glad I got the book out of the library. I wish this author much success in her future endeavors but I will not be getting anymore of her books.Secret Society: A Novel Overview

The Great Eclipse: A Dream Design Bankrupted by Marketing and Mismanagement and Saved by a Sensible Business Strategy ReviewThe author obviously had great access to all of the people involved in this endeavor of trying to bring the "ground breaking everyday" attitude of the technology industries to the art of aircraft design and manufacture. As you read of the internal and industry wide conflicts Vern Raburn aand his team encountered, you can almost see the conflict of buggy whip manufacturers had 100 years before with the advent of the automobile. Maxwell then goes on in detail to show why a good, or even a great idea is not enough to ensure ultimate success. A great read. The Great Eclipse: A Dream Design Bankrupted by Marketing and Mismanagement and Saved by a Sensible Business Strategy Overview"The wonder isn't that the airplane took so long to get built but that it got built at all." Robert GoyerEditor-in-Chief, Flying MagazineVern Raburn - high tech entrepreneur - was a man with a dream and strong opinions. The dream: build a low cost, high speed twin-engine jet aircraft; tocompletely change personal air travel and Eclipse the competition. Thestrong opinions: when comparing the standards of thinking in aviation tothose of Silicon Valley, Raburn said of aviation, "People think we can't doit because they can't. It's the 'if it doesn't exist, it can't exist' theorem." He said of Silicon Valley, "If it doesn't exist, it's a market opportunity."Eclipse Aviation, Raburn's start-up company, created the airplane, won theprestigious Collier Trophy and went bankrupt. Then, against all odds, it wassaved. "The Great Eclipse" tells the story of how crippling culture clashes, supply chain sloppiness, mega-marketing and major mismanagementmade the dream a nightmare.Maxwell takes us on a fascinating journey as Raburn's Eclipse powersthrough the easy money time of the internet bubble, tumbles on technologyand crashes in the global economic crisis. Then, the assets of the companywere plucked from the bankruptcy court and a new Eclipse company took flight, managed with a sensible financial and business strategy. Dennis Maxwell has been writing about technology for over 30 years, at General Electric, SRI International, for a number of Silicon Valley high technology films and forEclipse Aviation. His words have appeared in disparate places, from The American Cinematographer to Congressional testimony. Born in Hamburg, NY, he lives on Johns Island, South Carolina.Students of business seeking an excellent real life company case study involvingan industry "game changing" product that suffered from repeated management and financial missteps will find aseriesof thoughtprovoking business strategy questions in the last section of this book.
