Bait ReviewAnother winner from Karen Robards. If you are like me you can't wait for one of her books to come out. This one is GREAT.
Maddie Fitzgerald has had a hard life, but now things are looking up. She is in New Orleans to make a presentation that could take her fledgling advertizing agency into the big time. That night in her hotel room someone tries to kill her. Not only that, but he does kill another Madaline Fitzgerald in the same hotel. Which one did he mean to kill?
Sam McCade has been on this killer's trail for a month, the killer likes to tease him with hints before the kill. When Sam learns another Madaline has been attacked, but managed to escape he thinks he has his first break.
Maddie doesn't know if the hit was to be on her or not. But the FBI has already left her out to dry once, and she sure doesn't need them on her case again. IT has taken her 7 years to rebuild her life.
If it is the mob, she thinks she can hold some evidence over them and make them call off the hit. All the time she has Sam and his crew on her tail. Which is lucky because they save her life again and move in to protect her. She is not willing to tell them anything about her knowledge of the mob. She must protect herself.
When the killer strikes again she knows she will never be safe. She begins to think someone else is after her. But who? The attraction between her and Sam is potent. Eventually they confess to falling in love.
But the killer is not just after Maddie, somehow he seems to be connected to Sam, too.
The excitement never lets up. This is a fast paced story and so good you don't want it to end. There is a touch of humor, and you will feel alot of compassion for Maddie. The secondary characters are great, the ending surprising and exciting. Don't start to read it late at night, you may not get any sleep.Bait Overview

Flurries: A Zapstone New Voices Holiday Collection ReviewThis holiday themed anthology promises romances which feature women at various stages in their lives, what it delivers is mostly holiday tales with just the promise of romance but I was enchanted with more than half of the stories in this collection.
"Once Upon a Flight Delay" by Mary Compton ~ Fate brings two stranded travelers together while snowbound in an airport at Thanksgiving, when flights resume will geography keep them apart? I really enjoyed this one and was charmed by the pair's quick and quirky connection, I was really hoping they'd find a way back to each other somehow.
"Snowbound" by Claire Taylor Allen ~ When a snow storm shuts down all the roads out of town keeping a student from making it home for Christmas, she reconnects with an old friend living in the city ~ I always enjoy friends who discover that they can be more, and liked how the heroine's forced Christmas away from home ended up being a meaningful and memorable one.
"Bringer of Gifts" by Ryl Regehr ~ A woman accompanies a mysterious gift giver who has just what you need if you are 'ready' to receive it ~ Sprinkled with a bit of Christmas magic, I was hoping that Nick would get to keep his present.
"Where We Love" by Ronda Russell ~ A couple living overseas try to keep connected to the family they left behind ~ This was the least focused of the stories, though the couple's love for each other and for their families shone through.
"In Hiding" by Lelani Dixon ~ A witness in hiding is attracted to her handsome protector ~ Even though there was a pretty big shock at the start, I enjoyed this story all the way up to right before the ending when the hero glitches - some serious groveling was needed - this was the spiciest of the romances in the collection and would have been right at home in many a mainsteam romance anthology.Flurries: A Zapstone New Voices Holiday Collection OverviewZapstone Productions LLC introduces five new, unique voices in fiction. So get cozy and let these tales spice up your holidays--no shoveling needed! Be the first to enjoy these five tales of romance and romantic suspense by debut authors.Mary Compton: A Thanksgiving snowstorm results in a serendipitous encounter in "Once Upon a Flight Delay".Claire Taylor Allen: Being stuck in Boston might not be all that bad for two displaced New Yorkers in "Snowbound".Ryl Regehr: Gift-giving is difficult for most, but a mysterious stranger seems to know the perfect present in "Bringer of Gifts".Ronda Russell:In "Where We Love", a young couple worries that being so far from their families will ruin the holidays.Lelani Dixon: The holiday season is more than crazy... it's deadly in the romantic suspense novella, "In Hiding".

In Franklin's House ReviewIn Franklin's House by Beverly Lauderdale is a poignant story filled with rich descriptions that depict the anguish of a wife whose husband cheated on her with the wife of his business partner. Because of his indiscretions, the family is uprooted, moving from Iowa to California. However, the couple's only child, Molly, refuses to move with them, choosing instead to complete her senior year in high school in her hometown.
From the moment of her arrival in the old house they purchased in California, Kate begins to make discoveries. She finds a necklace and a diary that once belonged to Amy Elliott, an owner of the home in the early 1900s. When Kate puts on the ceramic necklace, to her disbelief, a man appears and tells her that by wearing the jewelry she will summon him. Not frightened by the ghost, Kate develops a friendship with him, even agreeing to help him get his poetry published. At the town library, she learns what she can about Franklin who built the house for his wife, Amy, and who died soon after in a tragic horse riding accident. Kate develops an unlikely friendship with Lorraine, a part-time librarian and hippy who enjoys cheap red wine and sailing.
Whether or not the reader believes in ghosts, In Franklin's House is a hard book to put down, and it's difficult to let go of the compelling characters. I look forward to reading more of Lauderdale's work.
Mary Montague Sikes, Author, Night Watch, coming soon, Secrets by the Sea 2008
In Franklin's House OverviewIn an isolated, turn-of-the-last century house set on a Northern California hillside, Kate steps into a deserted room that exudes a strange appeal. Based largely on her reaction to this room, she decides to buy the Victorian and to move from Iowa with husband Dan, whose affair has rocked their marriage.Lost in this California environment far from her home and familiar things, Kate is drawn repeatedly to the upstairs room where she finds a diary written in 1906, and a delicate rose bud necklace. The diarist describes visits from her deceased husband, Franklin Elliott, a poet. Captivated by their devotion to each other, Kate can't resist doning the necklace, which, to her amazement provides a portal though which Franklin can enter Kate's world.

Kiss Me Deadly ReviewMost people have fantasized at one point or another about winning the lottery. When they do, they tend to think of all the good things that can come from it.
Kiss Me Deadly is about a group of women who work in a law office who win the lottery, but their joy becomes short-lived as one by one, they are targeted. The women decide they need protection. The main character, Mandy, is given a former bodyguard, brother to her partner Dana, and former lover, Zack. Mandy and Zack had a child together a few years ago, but Zack doesn't know that. So as they try to keep Mandy (and her partners) alive, Mandy has to decide if she can trust Zach with her life, her child and her love.
This book really keeps you intrigued, between the storyline about why the women are targeted, and the love affair between Zach and Mandy. The love scenes are nice, not overly done. And every emotion and action is well-defined, so what they do seems to make sense. I hate it when books have characters behaving in ways that don't make sense. If you like suspense and intrigue, try this.Kiss Me Deadly OverviewMandy Newman won the biggest lottery in historyShe and her coworkers picked the right numbers and hit the jackpot' and then someone stole the ticket. Now Mandy's fellow winners are being murdered one by one, and an attempted drowning convinces Mandy she's next on the killer's hit list. In urgent need of protection and help to recover the ticket, she finds both, wrapped in the sexy form of DEA agent Zachary Taylor. But Zack abandoned Mandy once before, so relying on him doesn't come easy. If she's going to trust him, he needs to start telling her the truth. And she must do the same--since Mandy has a secret that could devastate them both. While on the run, Mandy and Zack struggle between sparking sensuality and latent distrust. But can they overcome their past as a killer attempts to destroy their future?

What's A Woman To Do ReviewIn What's A Woman To Do? by Maritza P. Brown, readers get a glimpse into the lives of Alex Avery and Journey Moore. These two friends are dealing with different issues within their lives. Both must face their problems and fears to acquire the happiness they surely deserve.
Alex Avery is a business consultant whose drive will help her rise to the top. She is also a loving mother who shares a unique relationship with her daughter's father, Steven McCoy. Alex and Steven's relationship takes a turn once she meets Derek Minor. Derek and Alex's attraction to each other is unmistakable and both fall head over heels in love. However, Derek is keeping a secret from Alex that will change everything.
Journey Moore is the co-owner of a fitness gym with her husband, Tony. They seem to be a loving couple but looks can be deceiving. Journey is trying to deal with the issues in her marriage. When her friend, Alex, asks her to accompany her on a trip to Vegas, Journey jumps at the chance to get away and clear her head. Journey's getaway vacation will involve more than she expects.
What's A Woman To Do is a book about unusual relationships. The author provides readers with drama, deception, and sums it up with the unveiling of secrets. The twist in the story was unsuspected making the reveal much more exciting. I recommend What's A Woman To Do to others.

What's A Woman To Do OverviewAlex Avery and Journey Moore's stagnant love relationships are unexpectedly tested when they each, upon happenstance, meet two men, who seem to incredibly possess all of the qualities the women seek in their perfect mates. Yet, it is soon realized that no one is perfect when the women discover that their knights in shining armor are closely connected to their current lovers.
Alex Avery, a career-driven, savvy-business consultant, and her daughter's father, Steven "Sway" McCoy, maintain a unique 'friends-with-benefi ts' relationship that suddenly comes to a halt after Alex is introduced to and immediately captivated by Derek Minor, a handsome, ex-thug turned legitimate businessman. Alex and Derek connect on every level to solidify the kind of relationship she yearns for, and, as time passes, he appears to be the man of her dreams. Derek, however, is keeping a secret from his past that may prove him to not only be too good to be true, but could sever the unique relationship Alex shares with Sway, forever.
Journey and her husband Tiny own and manage a fi tness gym and live comfortably, and, on the surface, appear to be the picture perfect couple. Yet, behind closed doors, Journey is the helpless recipient of Tiny's verbal and physical abuse. When Journey starts to suspect that Tiny is being unfaithful, Journey decides that she has had enough. And, with the help of an enticing, sexy, younger man, Journey rediscovers her self-worth as well as her explosive sexuality. Yet, she knows that in order to be set free, Tiny would have to let her go, which she knows he will not do willingly, especially since Journey's younger lover is the son of his best friend.
"Provocative, exciting, and intriguing. Maritza is a genius."

Dead to the Max: Max Starr Book 1 (Volume 1) ReviewWell the books are finally out in print so here is my review from the ebook: The characters, plot, and setting are expertly and richly drawn. I can't convey how much I enjoyed these stories, all five of them. I thought of the story long after I was done reading it. Max is a flawed woman who's life is touched by tragedy. The stories are about her dealing with life after the tragedy and the murders that seem to happen around her. To get the full effect, the stories must be read in order. Those of you that are looking for something different, here it is and it is really good.Dead to the Max: Max Starr Book 1 (Volume 1) OverviewBook 1, Max Starr Series, an erotic paranormal mystery/romanceIf you're a fan of Bella Andre, Lora Leigh, Janet Evanovich, Mary Janice Davidson, Charlaine Harris, and Laurell K. License to Thrill ReviewNolan Gentry has skedaddled out of Houston along with half a million dollars of company money from the family business. His grandson the straight-laced Mason Gentry is sent to find him and bring him and hopefully, the money back home.
Upon fining a note in his grandfather's things with the name Mabelline Sikes and the destination Las Vegas scribbled on it the flying challenged Mason soon finds himself hightailing it to sin city in search of the floozy who has lured his grandfather away. Upon arrival Mason mistakes private detective Charlee Champagne for Maybelline.
Charlee's grandmother is supposed to be away on fishing trip and she is bound and determined not to give this good-looking man any information about Maybelline no matter how charming and gorgeous he is. Circumstances soon lead Charlee to believe that her grandmother may indeed be with Mason's grandfather and the two may be in a boatload of trouble. Reluctantly Charlee agrees to go with Mason on a road trip to Los Angeles where the two are believed to be headed.
Mason finds himself attracted to the flamboyant Charlee and is dumbfounded by the attraction because she is defiantly not the type of woman he usually seeks out. The straight-laced Mason is not Charlee's type either. Sure he is drop dead gorgeous and has a boatload of charm but he is way too stuck up for her tastes. Now if he would only stop finding excuses to kiss her she might be able to resist his charms.
With half a million dollars on the line, a pair of wayward grandparents on the run and a pair of thugs in a Malibu on their tale this unlikely duo is thrown together and encounter one mishap after another. Forced together can Charlee and Mason make it to L.A? without falling head over heals in love? The verdict's still out but all bets are off in this wild and funny cross-country adventure.
Lori Wilde has given the reader a hilarious treat with her first single title. Mason and Charlee are characters that are larger than life and invite the reader to come along on their laugh filled, action packed cross-country journey. Ms Wilde's clever dialogue and ability to get her characters into way too much trouble makes for a highly entertaining book.
License To Thrill proves to be a welcome addition to Ms. Wilde's book list. It was great to see this talented author expand her delightful and humorous storytelling into the longer format and I look forward to future books by her.License to Thrill OverviewWilde's fast-paced, steamy, and humorous novel follows beautiful, wisecracking Las Vegas P.I. Charlee Champagne, hired by uptight banker Mason Gentry to find his grandfather, who's on the lam with the family fortune. Original.

Riding the Snake ReviewWheeler Cassidy is an alcoholic rich boy whose only aim in life is to hang out at the Country Club bar to get drunk and pick up on member's wives. Living off estate money yet often running short, his decline on the steep side after the death of his father, he lives one day just as the last until his up-and-coming, successful, brother Prescott is killed.
Shortly following his death, his secretary Angie Wong is brutally murdered; and beautiful black Tanisha Williams from the LAPD Asian Crimes unit is called to the scene. Tanisha grew up in the gang infested streets of the LA `hoods' and watched her five year old sister die from a gunshot wound. She wanted to fight back by becoming a police officer but soon became untouchable on the force and under IA investigation when transferred to the Asian Crimes unit, the worst place for a black female officer.
Tanisha and Wheeler make a very unlikely team as the hunt begins for Prescott and Angies murderers; both of them out of luck and out of time and out of patience. From LA to Hong Kong they search for clues to the murders, soon becoming targets themselves.
Interwoven into their desperate man hunt is the story of Fu Hai, an innocent man imprisoned for crimes his father did not even commit. He finally frees himself from Khotan and step by step begins his journey to America, trying to `Ride The Snake' as an illegal immigrant. His journey is brutal and degrading and yet filled with hope that he will be able to someday also free his sister who is trapped in poverty. Fu Hai must sell himself to the tongs to ride the snake, and so his journey is a long series of hardships, deceptions, beatings, and illness.
With amazing descriptions of Hong Kong harbor, streets and ghettos, palaces and The Walled City, Mr. Cannell takes you on an incredibly face paced adventure in this non-stop action novel. The suspense stays with you right to the ending, each page packing a punch. Great book for airplane travel or a weekend snuggled in your favorite chair.Riding the Snake Overview

Second Chances ReviewTwo lonely strangers stranded at an airport on New Years Eve share a passionate, soul-stirring kiss. Their brief interlude is one that Matt Holt and Billie Jean Walker will never forget.
Two years later, Matt's son Scott arrives home from college for the summer with 3 friends in tow, and Matt is shocked to see that one of them is Billie Jean. Matt and Billie don't share with Scott and his friends that they have previously met. Although Scott has never been more than good friends with Billie, things become a bit awkward when he feels he must compete with his father for Billie's attention. Billie has a lot of baggage that neither Scott or Matt are aware of, so after a few weeks she heads home to confront her evil father Jarrod, who has emotionally abused her her entire life, and try to settle matters at hand. Months later, mentally and physically exhausted, she returns to Matt's ranch, and here's where things get really convoluted...just when I think this girl knows what she's doing and a good man when she sees it....well, you get the picture!
Having missed this book the first time around, and reading all the great reviews about it, I could hardly wait to read it. And it was good, but so, so sad....will Billie Jean ever get it right? Will she ever stop crying? Will she ever tell anyone, especially the man who loves her, the whole truth? And do men like Matt (and Scott) really exist? I doubt most have the patience, or the financial means, to do all the things Matt does for Billie, which is where the book borders on unbelievable. I love most of Sharon Sala's books, the Gambler's Daughters being some of the best I have ever read. Halfway through this book, it became too bogged down with sad emotions and tears, with too few happy pages at the end for my liking.Second Chances Overview
It was the kind of encounter Billie had seen only in the movies, and never dreamed could happen to her. A rugged, sexy cowboy appeared from out of nowhere to stir her passions -- and then, just as quickly, he was gone. For one brief moment in time the wall Billie had built around her heart tumbled, though she believed their fiery passion would forever be no more than a bittersweet memory.

But fate leads her to a sprawling Texas ranch, and he is there again -- Matt, her handsome, mysterious stranger, the best thing that had ever happened to her. And now a voice inside her is telling her to run fast and far away. But Matt let Billie go once he's not going to make the same mistake again -- because nothing on earth will stop him from grabbing a second chance at love.

Deep Blue ReviewMs. Martin has brought to the conclusion her Sinclair Sisters trilogy, and "Deep Blue" was a very good ending to a series that offered the reader fun locations, strong and determined heroines, and the perfect Alpha male hero to complement them. This story was no different.
I took this read on the airplane with my flight just flew by (pun not intended, sorry) and I was fully engaged as I searched for buried treasure with Hope and Conner, while staying one step ahead of a killer.
Hope comes home to her apartment that has been torn apart by someone who seems to want to use this a warning to back off of the story that she was working. Her fears are confirmed when her boss pulls her off of one story, and moves her to another one. This one involves a treasure hunt, and Conner Reese. Conner is a diver who is in search of a lost Spanish galleon and it's hidden treasure. What he doesn't understand are the feelings he has for the sassy Hope. She's trouble with a capital "T" and he can't stay away. Will he be able to protect her from the danger that has followed her to the islands before a killer suceeds in ending Hope's life? Will Hope and Conner finally allow themselves to find love with each other?
This was a finally drawn story that truly had several different storylines going, but in the end they tied together. Hope was a great character and Conner was truly her equal. Ms. Martin always delivers when she pens her romantic suspense reads, and this story is no different. If you are new to this series, fear not...this is a strong stand alone read. On the other hand if you have been reading all of these books from the first than you won't want to miss this one. This is truly a read that you will want to add to your "summer reading list."

The Healer (The O'Malley Series #5) ReviewDee Henderson, you've done it again! The fifth book of the O'Malley series, "The Healer" will just captivate you! And if you've read all three books and loved them as much as I do, I'm sure you feel a part of the O'Malley family now!
The O'Malley family consists of seven brothers and sister, three boys and four girls. Since they were little they had been in the same orphanage and when they got out of the orphanage, they decided to 'adopt' each other, taking the name O'Malley as their family name. They all have very important jobs, Marcus is a U.S. Marshal, Kate a negotiator for hostage situations, botched-up robberies, etc., Jennifer is a doctor, Jack a fireman, Stephen a paramedic, Rachel a trauma psychologist, and Lisa is a forensic pathologist. This story is about Rachel O'Malley, 'the healer'.
Rachel O'Malley by the faith and prayers of her family is now a Christian. But being a trauma psychologist is a tense and stressful job. Working at disasters for the Red Cross, trying to heal the lives of children torn apart by parent's divorces, Rachel finds it hard at times to trust in Jesus to help her let go of the hurt she sees.
Captain Cole Parker, captain of a fire company who has spent the last few years fighting fires and trying to stop arsons. A devout Christian from a young age, Cole sticks by Rachel and helps her through the hard times. It is inevitable that they become closer, even reaching the point of falling in love.
But in the midst of Rachel of having to deal with the fact she might lose her sister Jennifer to cancer, tragedy strikes. When Rachel's sister Lisa O'Malley discovers a murder scene discovered in a flooded community, it is suspected that there may be a second victim. Things become worse when there is gunfire at a local school. Children are injured, children are dead, and what's so terrible is that the shooters were children. But the mystery begins when one of the bullets matches the one which had killed the victim in the flood. And that gun has disappeared. What is going on, how are the two cases connected? Rachel, Cole, and the O'Malley's must race to find the missing gun, before tragedy repeats...
Of all the books, I think that "The Healer" is one of the weakest in the series in that there isn't much of a mystery. I had already guessed much of the plot and most of the guesses were correct. But I must confess, this story is the most emotionally and spiritually touching of all the O'Malley books. From the aftermath of the shooting to Jennifer's sickness, there were moments where I felt like crying. Dee Henderson is a master at letting you get caught up into the story. The characters are likable, and I especially love Cole!
These are five books in the O'Malley Series in order, all highly recommended:
#1 "The Negotiator", Kate O'Malley's story. One of the best of the series.
#2 "The Guardian", Marcus O'Malley's story, the oldest of the O'Malleys. A great love story with an incredibly suspenseful plot!
#3 "The Truth Seeker", Lisa O'Malley's story, very suspenseful!
#4 "The Protector", Jack O'Malley's story, not as good as the previous three books yet still enjoyable.
#5 "The Healer", Rachel O'Malley's story.
#6 "The REscuer", Stephen O'Malley's story. One of the BEST books I've ever read!
Other books by Dee Henderson are:
"Danger in the Shadows", written before "The Negotiator" whose main character is the sister of Kate O'Malley's boyfriend, Sara and Walsh
#1 "True Devotion", the first in the Uncommon Heroes Series tells about the Navy SEALs.
#2 "True Valor", about Navy Pilot Gracie and Air Force Pararescuer Bruce.
#3 "True Honor", the best of the series so far with Navy SEAL Sam 'Cougar' Houston and CIA officer Darcy St. James. The Healer (The O'Malley Series #5) Overview

The Kill: A Novel ReviewOlivia St. Martin lives daily with the knowledge that as a young child she was unable to prevent the abduction and murder of her older sister, Missy. She has only the small satisfaction that her testimony resulted in the murderer's imprisonment.
Olivia is the director of the Trace Evidence and Materials Analysis division of the FBI in Virginia. When she learns that DNA evidence proves that Brian Hall did not murder Missy, Olivia is determined to find the truth.
Her investigation reveals that a serial killer has been on the loose for years. He surfaced in New York several years after Missy's murder and then appeared in Kansas, Atlanta, Nashville and other cities. His twenty-nine victims in thirty-four years were all blonde females between the ages of 9 and 12. Olivia's boss refuses to involve the agency so she travels on her own to Washington State where two of the recent murders occurred.
In Washington she joins Seattle Police Detective Zack Travis' investigation. They begin to work closely together to hunt the killer--and become romantically involved. Time is running out and Olivia struggles to solve the case and prevent more murders.
Allison Brennan does murder better than almost everyone writing in the romantic suspense genre does. She writes scintillating thrillers that keep you turning the pages until you breathlessly reach the conclusion. And then you want more. She is becoming one of my favorite authors.
Armchair Interviews says: For other exciting thrillers by Allison Brennan, read The Prey and The Hunt. The Kill: A Novel OverviewHer worst nightmare brought back to life, she risks everything for a second shot at justice. For thirty years, FBI scientist Olivia St. Martin has lived with guilt and one abiding certainty–that while she wasn't able to save her sister's life, she did testify and helped to convict the rapist and killer. Believing that the monster has just struck again in Seattle, Olivia leaves her lab and poses as a field agent, sharing her unofficial investigation with a hardworking Seattle cop. Olivia doesn't want to lie to detective Zack Travis. And she certainly doesn't want to fall in love. But as the investigation intensifies, Olivia and Zack find that they're rapidly losing control–over their hearts, their secrets, and a case that threatens to consume them.

Hot as Sin: A Novel ReviewSam is a "hot shot" firefighter who battles forest fires for a living. His life is certainly exciting enough, but we didn't get to see him living it in this story. Instead he is helping his ex-fiance, a woman who skipped out on him 10 years earlier, search through the forest for her abducted sister. The author, Bella Andre, worked at making the story a fast-paced adventure. Unfortunately, she watered the whole thing down by making every page a repeat of how much the h/h are lusting over one another. It got ridiculous. The heroine is supposedly afraid of heights, but while climbing a steep cliff she could only think about how much she wanted Sam. Page after page of the couple thinking nothing but "I want to taste her", "I want to see if he's as good as I remember", etc. I got really bored. I finally skimmed the last chapter just to get it over with. I didn't see anything between the h/h except painful memories of the past and lust.
"Hot as Sin" is the sequel to "Wild Heat". The first book is better. Here is the link:
Wild HeatHot as Sin: A Novel OverviewTHEY'RE LIVING LIFE TO THE EXTREME…AND BURNING UP THE COLD MOUNTAIN NIGHTSOnly total desperation could reunite Dianna Kelley with Sam MacKenzie, the irresistible bad boy she walked out on ten years ago. Not easy when they're trekking into a remote corner of the Rockies, where she's got to trust her former lover with her life. Despite their past, Sam never could refuse a damsel in distress, especially one who has haunted his dreams for years. He'll help find her sister and get Dianna out of his system once and for all. But soon it's hard to tell whether the greatest threat is from the rushing rapids, the deadly enemy on their trail, or the passion that's sending them straight into the line of fire….

Slow Burn: A Novel ReviewSlow Burn by Julie Garwood is a compelling story of mystery and romance.
Kate MacKenna has had a near miss on her life when a bomb goes off at a charity event she is attending. She is drawn out of town when her friend Jordan has a medical crisis. While there she falls into the arms of Dylan Buchanan, Jordan's brother. This is a complication she thinks she doesn't need.
After another near miss with another explosion Dylan comes to town to get to the bottom of who wants to harm Kate.
Dylan a detective is on leave after being injured on the job. He tells himself that he is looking after Kate at his sisters request but he comes to realize its always been Kate for him.
Getting to the bottom of these accidents is further complicated when it comes to light that Kate has inherited a boatload of money.
Dylan and Kate's romance is loaded with wit, charm and oozing sex appeal. The I Love You scene still makes me smile. The intrigue in this story is intense and heart pounding.
Julie Garwood has written another exceptional story. Can't wait for the next tale.

Blood Ties (The Searchers) ReviewBook 2 in Sharon Sala's Searchers series continues with youngest sister Savannah Slade. At his death Andrew, a wealthy Missoula cattle rancher has provided journals to each of his daughters, explaining the circumstances of their birth. In twenty-two-year-old Savannah's case, her birth mother Chloe, dying of cancer, entrusted her tiny daughter to then evangelist Andrew, to keep her safe. Savannah's real father Gerald, heir to the Stoss family fortune, was prepared to acknowledge her as his daughter and heir, however, greedy family members had him killed and then threatened Chloe, should she try to install her daughter as heiress.
Savannah sets out for Miami, FL on a mission to discover what happened to Chloe and to show evidence that Gerald Stoss may have been murdered, a plan that draws resistance from boyfriend and fellow rancher Judd Holyfield. Shortly after her arrival, she contacts the Miami police homicide unit and things immediately begin to go awry. The detective suspects her story is part of a scam and alerts the Stoss family, inadvertently putting Savannah in grave danger.
Savannah needs an attorney to pursue her claim of legitimacy as heiress (part two of her plan), and to do this she is directed to formidable, and highly successful attorney, Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson, recognizing the veracity of Savannah's claim, but knowing the Stoss family from previous encounters, suspects she will need protection once the claim is filed, but even he is slow to grasp the heinous nature of Gerald's twin brother Joseph Stoss and the speed at which plots against Savannah's life are enacted.
Author Sala pens a tightly woven plot with great action and suspense. Her characters are likable and readers will empathize with Savannah, whose main interest in pursuing her claim is to right a wrong-the murder of her father. I found myself on a roller coaster ride of suspense and intrigue, and even though I knew the villain's identity, I was continually surprised at the range of events. Blood Ties is suspense at its finest, an un-put-down able read from an author who's at the top of her game.Blood Ties (The Searchers) OverviewSavannah Slade is not the person she thought she was. The reading of her "father's" will has led her to a world-shattering revelation: her sisters are not her blood kin-and she may be the heiress to a massive fortune. Her not-quite-fiance Judd doesn't if it doesn't care where she came from-he only wants her by his side. But the primal need to uncover her past wins out, and Savannah trades the Montana ranges for Miami's moneyed oceanside enclaves. The wealthy and powerful Stoss family is less than overjoyed to find that Gerald Stoss's daughter has emerged from the past. But theirs is a clan seldom troubled by…inconveniences. They've always had the means to eradicate any blemish on their perfect lives. One more won't make a difference.
