Firestorm: A Novel ReviewPrison did not hold Julio Vargas, Sara Conner's deadliest enemy. He has been bought out of the prison and is paid to train an elite group of terrorists-a group like the United States Special Forces.
Sara Conner is unaware of Vargas's release from the prison and settles into her new life as a teacher and independent woman. With her newfound confidence and sense of self, she contemplates a new relationship with DEA agent Doug Bradford. But Bradford turns up missing.
Written off by his own agency as dead, no one bothers to look for Bradford, or to investigate his disappearance. In the DEA's eyes, Bradford is following his own agenda, and they don't appreciate it.
But Sara Conner isn't buying it. Bradford is the most trustworthy person she knows. She begins her own investigation, which uncovers information the DEA missed, and she and two agents set off to trace Bradford's last steps.
"Firestorm" follows on the heels of "Crossfire," which introduces Sara Conner and her unwitting marriage into a family of criminals that DEA Doug Bradford brings to justice.
Windle's knowledge of Columbia and Bolivia bring to life rich details of this area of the world famous for its constant conflict, drug smuggling and strife. Readers will feel the cloying heat of the tropics and lose themselves in the pages of a thriller with a Christian hero and heroine.
Intrigue, believable bad guys, smart heroes and God's truth-Firestorm has it all and is written with exceptional skill in an arena that holds the elements of today's world, both good and bad, in a believable and thought provoking test of faith, skill and determination.

Pocket Adventures Bolivia (Pocket Adventures) (Adventure Guide to Bolivia (Pocket)) ReviewOver the last two years I have traveled Bolivia four times. Among the score of Bolivian guides that I have reviewed, two stand out: "Pocket Adventures Bolivia" and "Footprint Bolivia". Both are solid guides, yet, both have their flaws.
"Pocket Adventures Bolivia" has great recommendations for both accommodations and restaurants. It has maps for all the major cities and each maps list the locations of the recommended eateries and lodgings. The `Introduction' section is brief, but informative (history, culture, ecology, etc.). Each city (or location) is well laid out and out of all of the guides that I have reviewed, none is better than "Pocket Adventures Bolivia" in listing the best tour operators for each city or area.
The shortcomings of the guide can be irritating, but none of them are crippling. Though this guide claims a 2006 publication date, the research and writing is 2004/2005. The airlines `LAB' (mentioned throughout the guide) is in bankruptcy, VERY unreliable and will probably go belly-up this year. Over the two years prices have changed and some of the recommended hotels/hostels/restaurants are no longer in business. Also, there are a few new ones that have sprung up and are not mentioned in the guide. IE. Sucre has an excellent new hotel (Colonia Real - Calle Aniceto #280) for $15 a night!
The maps, though helpful, are small and not as detailed as in Footprint. The writing could be more inspirational and the guide uses the cumbersome dollar sign code to tell you what restaurants and accommodations cost ($=10to20,$$=21to$50, etc.) In would be far easier just to tell the reader what the room prices are.. Finally, and the most serious shortcoming, there is a near total absence of webpage and email addresses for hotels/hostels. In Bolivia 90% of all hotels and the majority of hostel have webpages with photos. Sadly, only 10% of the recommendations have webpage addresses.
Though these shortcoming are a hassle the strength of this guide overcomes them and this is a "Strongly Recommended" guide. Happy wanderings.Pocket Adventures Bolivia (Pocket Adventures) (Adventure Guide to Bolivia (Pocket)) OverviewThis series is so popular that it's growing by leaps and bounds. Following the notable success of "Belize Pocket Adventures" and "Yucatan Pocket Adventures", we now offer four more titles in this lightweight, portable format. Designed to be used while you're on the go, "Hunter's Pocket Adventures" fit in your pocket with ease and make the perfect take-along reference. They contain all the practical travel information you need - places to stay and eat, tourist information resources, travel advice, emergency contacts, and more - plus condensed sections on history and geography that give you good background knowledge of the destination. The authors are fascinated with the destination and their passion comes across in the text, which is lively, revealing, and a pleasure to read. Sidebars highlight unusual facts and tell of local legends, adding to your travel experience. Detailed town and regional maps make planning day-trips or city tours easy. Adventures covered range from town sightseeing tours and nature watching to sea kayaking and organized jungle excursions.Travellers looking for a more relaxed vacation may want to sign up for traditional dance lessons in Bolivia, drum classes in the Dominican Republic, or attend a weaving school in Bolivia - these cultural adventures will introduce you to the people and afford you a truly unique travel experience.
