The easy to read format answered all my questions (even questions I did not know I should be asking). The card system in Appendix B allowed me to layout our entire trip - what we wanted to see or skip and where we wanted to eat. Going around the park was a breeze with the cards while keeping our little ones entertained with the attractions best suited for them. Plus, the book has great tips and tricks ("Hidden Magic"), and some money-saving ideas as well. I felt I had really learned the Disney lingo ("Mickey-Speak") before even arriving. The resort and dining reviews were extremely helpful, but the detailed theme park descriptions and rating system (tot through mature adult) helped us plan our day very efficiently. I also loved the tear out cards in the back of the book that helped us make sure we were hitting every must see in each park. I highly recommend this book for any first time visitor to Disney, it helped us make the most of our visit to the parks, stay at a resort that met our needs and helped us to pick excellent dining options.The Complete Idiot's Guide to Walt Disney World, 2009 Edition Overview

Plan Your Walt Disney World Vacation In No Time ReviewPlan Your Walt Disney World Vacation In No Time by Doug Ingersoll is a book I wish we had had before we spent a week at Disney World and came away wishing we had done this or skipped that to make the most of our wonderful vacation. This book is well laid-out to walk you through three stages: Part 1 gives advice on how to plan getting there and where to stay. Giving basic vacation planning strategies such as how to budget realistically, where to search on the Internet, which exits to take from highways, how to rent a car, etc., this is NOT an advertisement for specific properties or businesses but names each with the price range and outlines amenities, transportation, etc. The same is listed for restaurants in the area. This section alone will save you lots of money and exhaustion and frustration once you arrive at your dream destination. In the second section you will find each area of Disny World mapped,and a basic description of each ride or performance. There are some MUST SEE notes and for each place there is a rating of 1 - 5 for each age group from pre-schoolers to seniors. At the back of the book are trip cards so you can make notes of which attractions to do and which to skip, placing these cards in your wallet for on-site use. There is a section to help you plan what to do after dark and the final section is devoted to other attractions in the area outside Disney World. Pauline Frommer's Walt Disney World and Orlando (Pauline Frommer Guides) ReviewThis book really made my vacation at DisneyWorld. I'll admit I'm not a Disney 'fanatic'; I'd been once before and enjoyed it just fine, but hadn't thought about going back until this family reunion came up. I was put in charge of the DisneyWorld planning and bought several guidebooks -- this book was definitely the best.
It was clear that the author knew the parks inside and out, but he didn't seem to have 'drunk the Disney kool aid' if you know what I mean. For example, he pointed out rides that were disappointments and eating options that were overpriced, whereas the other guidebooks basically said it was all great, and gave you no caveats whatsoever.
I really appreciated the book's frankness and wonder if that's why it got those negative reviews from the folks who seem to go there over and over. Sometimes he was ironic about the parks too in a way that made me laugh out loud (never chuckled at a guidebook before).
I thought the book was very accurate. We ended up going the condo rental route thanks to this book (an option the other books barely mentioned but in this book there were a lot of details on it) and I have no doubt our group of 12 saved a good $2000 that way if not more.
